About myself / founder and the company

After years of frustration on several issues like bumpers, tablet mounts and scanner batteries I decided to start my own company to solve these and other issues in the delivery vehicle space.

I was a FedEx contractor for 3 years and during that time I found that many things were not designed for our usage nor were there solutions for common problems. There were day-to-day things like making sure we had enough batteries for scanners, fixing tablet holders or just coming in first thing in the morning to see a bumper bent out that just took up my time or money every day.

My background as an engineer who designed parts for commercial vehicles and then in automotive gives me a unique perspective on these issues and how to potentially fix them. I have parts on commercial vehicles and cars that have been on the road for over 15 years. I was the lead engineer on many different components from transmission components to hybrid and electric vehicle systems like batteries and electric motor systems. I know how to design and build parts from sheet metal, plastics and electrical components including wiring.

One day after replacing a bumper on a truck twice in one week I came up with a patent pending idea for a better bumper. The idea for the bumper is that only the outer part would break part if pulled outwards from the vehicle. It annoyed me to no end that I had to pay $400 plus $100 for shipping for a new bumper and I frequently would see this issue on mine and on other trucks in the depot. Most often from the truck next to it hooking the front bumper with their rear bumper. You can try to bend the bumper back to being straight, but it would just flop about and just not be worth it. I had seen the multiple piece standard and spring bumpers but they have the same issues, they would still have the same failures and cost about the same amount to fix. So, in 2023 I built prototypes of my new / patent pending design and tested it on my fleet and with others. They worked as planned and even survived accidents like a car spinning out on the highway and hitting my truck with no damage outside of the bumper.

Next was my daily annoyance with scanner batteries. Every day that I went in, I would go through trucks and recover batteries. I had to send out my drivers with 2-3 batteries each just to finish the day. The existing charging docks would break after 3-5 months and cost $200, the other chargers would work, but because they didn’t hold the scanner upright like a dock drivers didn’t use them. Additionally, some drivers would take 3 batteries every day and never put them in chargers at the end of the day. My idea was to make scanner chargers that would be simple and use USB charging, no need for hardwiring into 12V, and would have the part that would fail in existing designs be replaceable. Thus, this is my idea behind my design.

After replacing all of my tablet mount / holders for the third time trying to find something that would last I realized that there had to be a better solution that would last. The plastic tablet mounts would randomly break the more expensive ones would fail at the joints. I would see drivers taping them up so they wouldn’t sag or rotate out of position. Additionally, I would have driver swap them because they weren’t charged usually because they unplugged the tablet the day before to charge their phone. So, I designed an all-aluminum design that bolts into place with a patent pending dual adjustable angles. It bolts together, so if you don’t want it to be removed it won’t be removed but there is an option to use wing nuts to make it tool-less to remove the tablet. There are also strain relief holes so you can zip tie the cable making it hard to take and hard to use to charge a phone. The mount is designed to last the life of the vehicle; take being hit with boxes and dollies and the environment of a delivery truck usage daily.
